Description
The elevation to the summit is 1,106 MASL with a trekking distance of 4.6 kilometers. Its terrain is moderate to rolling with a difficulty scale of 3/9.
The jumpoff point is at Sitio Centro, Barangay Jose Rizal. The area is an ancestral domain of the Bagobo-Tagabawa, and they call the mountain Buntod Ta Laya.
In Bagobo, the term ‘Buntod’ means mountain, and ‘Laya’ refers to a small species of bamboo that is common at its peak.

Additional details
For those with vehicles, you can park them at Sabangan parking area.
For no vehicles, transportation to the start of the trip can be arranged.
Things you will need to bring:
- Water bottle
- Rain jacket in case of rain
- Umbrella or cap in hot weather
Conservation Rules
- Leave No Trace (LNT). Bring your own trash bag and take it home with you.
- Respect other guests by avoiding loud music, especially during sleeping hours.
- Do not pick plants or flowers.

This is a relatively beginner’s trail where new hikers can start practicing their footwork and endurance in the trail. Though it is still advisable to have a good amount of exercise prior to the climb.
